Weekend Warriors.
One of the interesting aspects of the Clampdown on Criminal Biker gangs in Queensland(Australia) is that suddenly 'citizens' and 'weekend warriors' who ride motorcycles are acting all "middle class" and indignant about the New laws. I thinks it's indicative of the modern mentality and funny watching the mum and dad bikers playing the victim in the crackdown on the outlaw bikie bad boys.
Of course it's not just them, it's something people do nowadays. As soon as there's big news, there is a frantic rush to associate with it by any tenuous link . It is the natural progression of the "instant street cred" consumerism in all aspects of modern iconography and fashion............if ya got the money you can buy the Harley , have it "accessorised" and be a bad boy rebel outlaw son of anarchy when you get out the office, or the kids are with Grandma on a sunday afternoon.
Folks who simply ride motorbikes (even dressed up in big, tough matt black) need to understand something - the real outlaw bikies don't like you. You are in no way related. You're not even friends.
If all the bikies you associate with are good, honest people, it simply proves the point.
The fact that you want to claim some sort of street credibility as a victim of the police is at best a little bit sad and shameless.
But of course, it's not just bikers who shamelessly crave these tenuous associations and attention.
Whenever there's a disaster, a fatal crash, a robbery, whatever, people are keen to be associated.
You see it in the social media all the time "This is really hurting me. My brother's friend's family is in the worst spot and we're doing all we can to help" - yeah, from 1000km away.
But of course they get all the comments and likes they're after - "thinking of you buddy".
I can't help wondering what how it looks in other countries less obsessed with all this "living out "of every part of our lives on a public stage.
I seriously think that we've got it too good in our countries and as a result we're desperate for attention.
Being a victim is never easy. It's not something you do from the comfort of your lounge room or an internet cafe for half an hour a day. It's more than a collection of sentences that win you "likes" on facebook.
So you Weekend Warriors be careful what you wish for ! keep it real.

Biker,Pink,Drag .........play on words
In Australia a "Bikie" (God that word irritates me ! ) stages pink protest down Toowoomba's main drag ?
what the F is that all about ?
AN ANONYMOUS bikie made a public pink protest down the main strip of Toowoomba in response to the State Government's new anti-bikie laws.
The lone rider traded the traditional black-leather garb synonymous with bikie culture for a bright pink vest as he rode down the main street.
One of the guys friends caught the ride on film, with the caption "Bring on the pink, Newman. We don't care!"
In a letter to The Chronicle, the mystery rider outlined the basis of his protest.
"It is my answer to Campbell Newman's childish threats of making 'bikie' prisoners wear pink," the letter states.
"We don't give a stuff."
Question is did anyone actually notice this one man protest ? lol

Ring of Red M25 Biker Run............Nice ride, Nice idea, Good Cause
Ring of Red M25 Biker Run is an event for bikers on Remembrance Sunday 10th November 2013.
The aim is to form a circle of bikers dressed in red and wearing poppies riding Clockwise around the M25 making the biggest Poppy in the World.
This ride is intended to present a physical show of support for our Armed Forces, both current and previous. Not every biker goes to a remembrance service on this day, but I do know that they Respect our armed service men and women.
This is just another way of showing it.
The event was an idea by Julia Stevenson, a well known respected biker in the Ride of Respect Rideouts.
It is a non-profit event with all monies raised from the sale of the patches (after expenses) being given to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
More here & meet points http://ringofredm25.webs.com/meeting-points-2

New Video Shows Motorcyclists Stomping SUV Driver Into Pavement
Two publicly available videos showing the altercation
between a group of motorcyclists and the Washington Heights
last month but have both omitted the actual assault. The first video ends just when
a motorcyclist bashes in the driver's side window, and a second video starts
just after the bikers finish kicking driver Alexian Lien into a bloody
pulp in the street. ( I guess it is difficult to hold the phone whilst throwing punches lol !) Now, however, ABC
7 has obtained (disturbing ?)video of the assault from another witness:
To tell ya the truth the video is pretty dire and unsteady so although the cops may have found it useful the media use of it is a waste of time ...judge for yourself http://gothamist.com/2013/10/22/new_video_shows_motorcyclists_stomp.php
ABC 7 reports that police have seen the video. Nine
people have been arrested so far

Clampdown Australian style
Apart from always being slightly bemused by the slightly
comedic sounding use of the word Bikies
(as opposed to Bikers) by Australians, it is often interesting to take a
look at the way bikers are portrayed and represented in the press down under.
It will come as no surprise that it appears to be just the
same as everywhere else in the world. In a way it's reassuring.
Oh and hey in case anyone has got me wrong - i really don't
give a rats ass what citizens and the press think of me or my kind, or how Hollywood twats represent or misrepresent
us...............it just interests , amuses and amazes me that the same
stereotypical shit is still pouring out.
I certainly believe that any attempt to explain to these nit wits gives
their stupidity a value and the best way to deal with them is to carry on
regardless.
Anyway - Australia .............."Bikies"...........just like
elsewhere the generic term is so wide as
to include Pizza bike riders, scooters, sports bikes riders, family tourers, 1%ers
and essentially anything on two wheels
with an engine.
The scarey stories and negative representations are fairly
standard and equally biased and embellished for dramatic effect.
The Australian Authorities have instigated a clamp down on
"Bikies" and have brought in draconian laws to attempt to completely
wipe out " bikies".- 25 years jail for membership and equally harsh and disproportionate treatment for association
Today (21st October) Police are reported as having made their first arrests under the tough new anti-bikie legislation when two 'Odin's Warriors' were arrested in Cairns
Just looking at todays papers/reports (Australian)
' Police warned to enforce Campbell Newman's new bikie
laws or face being fired '
Queensland online news
' Australian Crime Commission finds BIKIES are running
their illegal businesses while in jail sparking fears they may
be paying off prison staff.'
The Courier Mail :
' Is former Bandidos member turned Hells Angel John Fahey
the man who kickstarted events that led to bikie
crackdown ? '
and rather embarrassingly for the cops !
'Two police officers have been left red-faced after confusing
a man's Sons of Anarchy T-shirt with a real bikie gang's patch
in Queensland.'

Police officer who was part of bike gang saw nothing !
Undercover internal affairs police officer who was part of bike gang that surrounded and attacked SUV driver says he didn’t even see the incident, ........must be the truth then .
- Officer Matthew Rodriguez, 28, was part of the team investigating the original road rage assault
- He has since admitted being a member of the gang, called Frontline Soldiers
- The cop said he was with the group on the day of the incident, but claims he left before the fight happened
- Several bikers have now been charged in connection with the brutal attack, including NYPD cop Wojciech Braszczok, 32

Police make another arrest in biker attack on SUV driver during NYC rally
NEW YORK :[Fox News]
Amateur video shows the bikers forcing the SUV to halt then surrounding it on foot. The driver says he feared for his life and plowed through the crowd, running over and gravely injuring one motorcyclist.
Bikers gave chase, then pulled the driver from the vehicle and beat him.
Several riders have been arrested, including an off-duty police officer.
Douglas was in custody. It wasn't clear if he had a lawyer
Folk Devils and Moral Panics ? *
Is it not amazing ( and of concern ?) that the sociological and behavioural observations and theories in relation to subcultures/mainstream culture, so well espoused in the 1970's academic study Folk Devils and Moral Panics - by Stanley Cohen are still so relevant today in the 21st Century,
Now that is just one press report but it is evident of the prevalent press slant on the events of that day.
similarly, The LA times reports
'Eighth person is charged in NYC motorcycle gang attack on SUV'
- the copy still includes the required "slant" words but does at least mention injuries sustained by both the motorcyclist who was run over and the driver, from the beating shortly after in the same series of incidents.
[The SUV driver] ' Lien's injuries included two black eyes, multiple cuts to his face that required stitches, and injuries to his hands, back and right shoulder, according to criminal complaint '
And
[The motorcyclist] ' Mieses remains hospitalized with spinal and leg injuries. '
Perspectives ? - What came First Chicken or Egg ?
' It all began onManhattan ’s
West Side Highway when a motorcyclist slowed down and made contact with Lien’s
SUV. After the initial encounter, the bikers surrounded the black Range Rover
but Lien -- whose wife and 2-year-old child were passengers in the car -- fled,
running over biker Edwin “Jay” Mieses Jr.
Predictably, the newspaper takes as the initial provocative act of the whole series of events to be the motorcyclist pulling in front of the Range Rover and deliberately slowing down - resulting in a "nudge" to the motorcycle from the family SUV.
However, reports are now coming to light that this alleged act of unprovoked aggressive behaviour on the part of the Motorcycle rider was itself precipitated by the alleged throwing of a water bottle at the motorcyclists by the SUV driver.
This is an interesting case from many angles not just the facts. On a News level it has the shock horror , innocent family attacked by crazy biker mob appeal that sells Newspapers . On another level it derives it's momentum from the stereotyping that is still prevalent in both human nature and exploited by the sales hungry press.
The basic skeleton of the whole matter is scarily simple when stripped of the emotional 'drivers' [yes of course Pun intended !]. From both side it is a case of 'they did this to us so we did that to them and they did that to us so we did that to them' ...................et al. Right or Wrong, that is human behaviour at it's basic level.
The factors that forge public attitude and opinion on such matters complex but include the way in which the press report, the use of language(Gang, Mob,Family man, etc ) combined with already deep set beliefs, needs, attitudes and opinions (some would even say indoctrinations), as well as learned behaviours and perspectives of the 'players' and observers involved.
Folk Devils and Moral Panics is essential reading for anyone wanting to understand this powerful and enduring phenomenon.

Another biker has been arrested in connection with a mob attack on an SUV driver during a motorcycle rally in New York City.

Victim ? which one ? question of perspective !
Has anyone else noticed that the press seem to have re-focussed the reporting, and now focus heavily on the injuries sustained by the "Family guy" driver who precipitated the incident with his behaviour [allegedly throwing a water bottle at the bikers immediately prior to the incident] rather than the injuries he inflicted on the bikers. He then ran into, and over, several bikes/bikers in his attempt to avoid the consequences of his aggressive and stupid action which ignited the trouble.
Meanwhile one of the bikers injured, Mieses, of Lawrence, Mass., remains in critical condition after Lien plowed into him, breaking both his legs, fracturing his spine and paralyzing him from the waist down.
To be absolutely honest , I condone the bikers actions in such a situation having myself , as a biker seen idiots in cages driving aggressively and often deliberately acting provocatively towards myself or other 2 wheel road users.
I was watching a video last night on you tube. It appears to be somewhere in Europe. A fat prick in a shogun or some other outrageously fatty- SUV deliberately angles his vehicle and front wheels to inconvenience a motorcycle rider trying to make progress through the traffic. Stuff like this happens all the time when riding in London and it is just plain stupidity and inflammatory behaviour by some mindless car drivers.
I had the biggest laugh a few years ago when riding my old Iron Head Sportster. I was making my way to Falcon Road,SW11 to hook up with some brothers for an Ace Café run from the Battersea Power Station to Brighton. As I waited to make a right turn into Falcon road from Lavender hill (at Clapham Junction) A driver in a new ford pulled round my left side ,intending also to make a right turn. Apart from the fact he was dangerously close to my bike I kinda guessed he wasn't paying attention to the Brewery truck unloading immediately ahead in the road into which I was turning.
As the lights changed and I made the turn he turned aggressively and panicked when he realised he couldn't clear the Brewery lorry and he just side swiped me , pushing me sideways quite a few feet.
luckily instinct rather than skill took over and I miraculously managed to keep upright and not swerve into the oncoming traffic. The main reason the bike didn't get pushed further or topple was also as it turned out a little bit of Kharma on the twat in the car.
He didn't pull over or even acknowledge his stupidity , presumably as he contemplated the 20 to 30 "oily" bikers waiting just ahead and watching in astonishment at his actions. Instead he accelerated and took a quick left across the estate.
His Kharma came in the form of the surprise he would get when he got home in his new ford. The footpeg (no forward controls on my ratted old ironhead ! ) on the Bike was like most of the old Harleys, almost "agricultural" grade heavy metal. After the bike dislodged itself after the sideways "push" It became clear that his actions had caused the footpeg to penetrate the door skin and as he continued his forward motion it ripped the door skin like a tin opener ! lol Kharma indeed.
I can imagine his feeling as he gets out of the shiny new car to find the side looks like the tin can it is !

Ho Hum this story just gets better all the time....... More here
Charges Dropped in NYC Motorcycle Attack !
Fact is the Range Rover Driver rear ends the rider in front before the whole incident kicks off and before he ploughs thru bikers seriously injuring one .
'Prosecutors dropped charges Wednesday against one of the men arrested in connection with a motorcycle road rage incident in New York City over the weekend.
Allen Edwards, 42, had been charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and menacing due to his alleged participation in an attack on Alexian Lien. The businessman was driving his SUV with his wife and two-year-old daughter in the car Sunday when a swarm of motorcycles surrounded the vehicle. The altercation, which lasted several minutes and was caught on video, left one biker gravely injured and ended when Lien was dragged from his car and beaten on a New York City street.
The fact that charges have been dropped doesn’t prevent prosecutors from bringing future charges, “Prematurely charging individuals with low-level crimes does not further the goals of the investigation, and could weaken the cases we expect to bring against the perpetrators of serious crimes,” a prosecutor said in a statement.'
When all said and done the car driver got only a little of what he deserved. let's hope he learned some respect and that the little bubble in which he goes around feeling safe , indestructible, and oblivious to other road users is not impenetrable.

laugh ? I almost passed me fags round ! (oops no pun intended !)
dunno if many others here have been following the so called "facebook Biker War "........but worth checking it out it is so futile.
Basically some or mainly one MC club "Iron Order MC" has established itself all across the USA(and it would appear -here in the UK)without respect for or any acknowledgement of the traditional values and behaviour usual to establishment of a new MC . to make things worse they are a club made up of ex/current servicemen and Law enforcement.
It seems from reports on the net that the club manage to get up to and get away with all the usual shenanigans we have come to expect from Law Enforcement worldwide !
They sound like LE members inspired by "Devils Ride " or "SOA".

Intelligence ? What Intelligence ??????
I found an interesting site the other day that has lots of reports and information from government and Law enforcement. http://publicintelligence.net/
Now we all know the information the site publishes is not " restricted" in the way that many of the Wikileaks stuff was (is ?) and is probably put on the site by the Law enforcement/political organisations themselves to meet their own agenda rather than leaked...........and possibly dis-information......(does that make it "un-Intelligence " ?????? lol )
some of the stuff on there is well worth a look........
especially the stuff on Bikers ....................lol some of which has the following tag attached......
' Law Enforcement Sensitive – This information compiled and maintained by the Southeast MN Narcotics and Gang Task Force. Not to be shared with any other agency without permission of the SEMNGTF.'

Sparks !
Ain't it always the same the bike runs day in day out 325 a year except when you leave late for a hook up !
Fortunately my current Harley is not quite as bad as my old iron head.............she had the fantastic habit of waiting until you had got to your destination , had your hook up and then 3am , P***ing rain, or temperature drop and then wirr wirr couple of cranks and then the battery would give up. ! now the worse thing about that bike (or pile of crap american scrap iron as it became known on those occasions) was that this wasn't a regular easily diagnosed problem . The generator was fine , the voltage regulator(always a prat on an Iron head !) or the coil. Nothing so simple.............this was always an intermittent , and totally unpredictable
occurrence.
My current bike , had her since 2003, is usually a dream..........starts .runs stops....starts runs stops....maybe that is the problem ............almost so good you forget to do regular stuff like the regular maintenance stuff.
So I suppose like the girlfriend who you start to take for granted, my Harley decided to remind me in her own inimitable way.
Last weeks I had a regular, important hook up at 1pm. got up late, crap weather , decided to revert to going on the bike rather than the cage as originally intended which in turn meant I could rely on bus lane use and swift progress thru the traffic and leave later.Unfortunately like the proverbial hare I left it until the very last moment .
I Got round the block with a bit of splutter and a pop and thought " oh fuck gotta ditch her and swap to the car. Drove round the block , thought how late I was gonna be if i took the car and decided "ah it;s just cold running.- I'll risk it " BAD CALL ! after 4 sets of traffic lights on my short 12 minute Journey I realised I needed to increase the revs to avoid engine dying............by the time I reached my appointment I realized
(or rather the optimist in me hoped !)one of my plugs was giving up or had given up the ghost.
While I sat in my meeting I was re-occupied with whether or not to call for help or try to make it home. Hey I am 'Old' 'Old school' - if it will run I will ride it ! (and many time over the years I have pushed bikes
too !). And I gotta say to be honest I had my heart in my mouth and almost gave up halfway home, thinking to abandon the bike , get new plugs and then return to ride the restof the way...............but hey this is London and chances are some scum would steal the bike while I went for plugs ! " hedge hopping " I made it home and I gotta say i had zilch power and the noise was awful. What is usually a 'stump puller' from almost zero throttle could hardly make it up the slightest hill near home ! I was running on one firing plug/cylinder.
As I hoped , new plugs put everything right again and the beast breathed fire straight away. I learned 3 things from this little incident ...........
[1] how much we take spark plugs for granted , especially cos they are seemingly such a simple looking part, when we shouldn't !
[2] how prices on the spark plugs is totally non uniform (especially with the internet now giving great selection, the ones that the local bike store wanted £9 each for cost me £12 (inc shipping) for 4 online and..
[3] confirmation that just like my old ironhead my current bike is a typical American tractor - although often disrespected for being so primitive -simple engineering compared to most other brands- if you got a spark (even just one ) it will get you home.
P.S You could of course always "pretend you broke down !

X Ray Specs
When I was a kid I used to chew "Bazooka Joe " Bubblegum and you could get gifts from their gift catalogue by collecting the vouchers inside each pack. ..........I always wanted to send off for the "X Ray Specs" from that catalogue......Maybe this is why ....................................

Bring Motorcycle road tax inline with that of cars
http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/48869
Cars pay road tax on based on the emissions.
Motorcycles pay road tax based on their CC
For most motorcycles, if they were cars, they'd pay no tax whatsoever...
but as Motorcycle's are still taxed based on the old method of judging their CC, motorcycles over 600cc pay £78 a year.
So a Toyota Aygo or Citreon C1, a tax class B car, pays just £20 a year, producing 139gm of Co2...
....but a Honda VFR making just 16.5g of CO2, pays £78 a year, nearly 4 times as much. Motorcycles take up next to no room, are far less emitting than cars, cause far less wear/tear on the road surfaces and reduce traffic.
It's about time this fundamental unfairness was addressed, and motorcycle tax based on emission on the same basis as cars.
It is either discrimination against motorcyclists, or blatant milking of us for financial benefit.
